I’m really ready for Autumn and Winter foods and I’ve been loving all the seasonal variations of squash in stews, risottos, even sandwiches. I’ve dug out my jumpers, got some spiced chai tea, but what I really needed was a wintery start to my day. I know it’s only just October and ‘Winter’ spices are more of a Christmassy thing but it’s what I really wanted and gosh was it good! It’s just as easy as any old porridge and it’s also a good one to prep the night before to make mornings really relaxing.
2 Handfuls Oats
Zest of half an Orange
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
A little grated Nutmeg
Approx. 150ml Oat Milk (or any other plant milk, they’re more or less the same)
Toppings: Granola, Almond Butter, Cacao nibs, Maple Syrup
The night before, put the oats, flavourings and milk in a bowl, cover with cling film and leave in the fridge overnight to soak. In the morning, tip into a pan and heat through with a little water to allow for evaporation as it heats, more or less depending on your preferred consistency. Sprinkle on your toppings and enjoy!
