Ginger Beer

Ginger beer has been one of my favourite drinks for a long time, it’s so amazingly fiery and perfect for curing sore throats or upset digestion. The only thing is that it’s usually got loads of sugar in it – so much for it being good for you!

Well, I thought I’d have a go at making some of my own sugar-free but still 100% delicious version. It probably doesn’t count as real ginger beer because it hasn’t fermented with yeast, it’s more of a ginger juice than anything else. But it still tastes amazing. Watch out, it’s got a bit of a kick!

Makes 1 Glass

ginger1cm thick slice of Fresh Ginger

A squeeze of Lemon Juice

1/2 tsp Maple Syrup

250ml Water

Optional: Splash of Sparkling Water/Lemonade to add fizz to the drink

Blend all of the ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth. Strain into a glass through a sieve to get out the bits.

  1. I’m so glad you’ve finally found it! To be honest you can probably make this zero-sugar by missing out the maple syrup, because it’s not 100% necessary, it just gives it a sweeter flavour. Hope you enjoy! Lauren 🙂
